Who We Are
Hello! We are Kim and Don "Woody" Woodin, owners and operators of the Ouray Inn.
In February of 2016 we made two huge life decisions: we bought a hotel, and, after 15 years together, finally tied the knot! Many people asked “Why Ouray, Colorado?", and the answer is that we want to live in a small town again because, at heart, we are small town people!
Kim was raised in Lubbock, Texas. She started working in the hospitality industry on her family’s guest ranch in a small valley in New Mexico when she was very young. She continued her hospitality career in Santa Fe, working at the Marriott and other major hotel brands. Kim has fulfilled her dream to own and operate a motel in a small mountain town.
Don aka “Woody” was raised in Dallas, Texas, and owned and operated his own business in Santa Fe, NM for over 20 years gaining much small business and customer service experience. He too is excited to be in a mountain environment. Don likes to fish, hunt, golf, and take on the mountains, and is excited to be able to share his knowledge of the area.
Both Kim and Woody have traveled internationally, so when out-of-country guests arrive, they are always excited to chat with them about places they have been. It's just one more way to bring everyone together while staying at the Ouray Inn!
After buying the property, we threw ourselves into many improvements: installing new air-conditioning and heating, updating bathrooms, and supplying the rooms with new TVs, lighting, and linens.
We take pride in living on site, as it gives us the opportunity to meet new people every single day, and to continue to add personal touches. We're not just here to check guests in and say, "Here's your key, we'll see you when you check out." We want to exceed expectations, and that begins with our availability to you.
